"Discover the Power of Music, Movement, and the Arts for Teaching and Learning"
 

Teacher conference, In-service, Young Writer/Artist

 

Educating teachers is essential to any significant effort to bring music, movement, and the arts to students.

Participation in these areas helps children to develop socially and emotionally, as well as physically and intellectually.

This keynote/workshop experience . . .  

 

  • Offers strategies and techniques for using music, movement, and the arts in the classroom 

 

  • Enhances a teachers’ creativity, knowledge, confidence, and appreciation in these areas             

  • Encourages teachers to reflect on how they incorporate music, movement, and the arts into their typical school day

 

What will participants gain?

 

  • Participants will learn from Baker, a musician and educator with 34 years experience in using music and movement with children 

 

  • He has an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Design, and has developed music for CHARACTER COUNTS!, the Sanford Harmony Program, the FIT Program for WebMD and Sanford Health, and others  


Approach and Results

  • Participants will participate in a series of music and movement exercises  

 

  • Participants will discuss conceptual learning theories and how they apply to music, movement, and the arts

 

  • Participants can expect to take away new songs and activities to use in the classroom, and to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the benefits of using music, movement and the arts in teaching and learning
